What about an unknown extention? I never saw anything like that, but it would help to know the circumstances. When?

    Hi Westside,

A little more info - Apparently, it happens when i go to a music site and the site tried to
launch some background music. I saw a grey box with a large "N" in it, also greyed out.

Ex: this site causes the error but no greybox is shown.

I'm sure it has something to do with an audio plug-in that i dont have here. I'm at my
daughters house trying to straighten out her sys (just needs a good cleanup).

    thanks,
    savagcl

I am using Firefox1.0.7, and the site you listed is fine. I have chosen Quicktime as my default for MIDI file, and they are MIDI, indeed. I can see the tell-tale Q of quicktime. However, you should not get an extention warning, but rather a plugins warning. There have been other posts about MIDI, including one of mine, I think.
Do you have in Tools|Options|Downloads|View or Edit Actions a MID item.
And, I think that I understand that extention thing. Normally, an extention is something which describes the type of file, like .exe, .mid, etc. And, then we have the Firefox "Extentions" which are really "addons" to the programs.

    Strange!
    The extensions i see are:
TIF, PNTG, PICT, QTIF, TIFF, 3G2, MP4, M4A, M4B AMC, AIFF, AU, 3GP, SDP,
QT, SWF, SPL, PDF, FDF, XFDF, XDP, XFD, ASX, WM, WMA, WAX, WMV, WVX,
MID, WAV, MP3, M3U, MPEG, ZIP.

Some of them are repeated several times but the "Remove" button is greyed-out. Mid is
    there.
MP3 appears 6 times and all 6 open with the same program (Winamp).

The message i see will only show the path (to the cache file) but when i look for the file,
    I dont see it.

Think i found it. I moved the npmidi32.dll and npmp332.dll to the firefox\plugins folder and
its picking up the crescendo player now. So, we'll see how it goes from here.

Will post back here if it happens again.

    thanks, Westside,

    clif,

If you want Winamp to play MP3 files, then you need to remove the Crescendo npmp332.dll file. Otherwise Crescendo will take over your MP3 files.

    Hi Ramona,

Glad your on your feet again.

If its an MP3 file, i will normally save it to disk for playing later (in winamp). It was the
midi files that the .dll was missing in FF and Mozilla but i got it straight now.

    thanks,
