Just bought an unbranded desktop with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. I don't like Win 7 and would like to wipe the system clean so that I can Install XP which I am comfortable with. How Can I do this,?
Can Ijust Format the C: drive or is it a lot more complicated, assuming that it not impossible ?

I would highly recommend you get used to Win 7...

But, you need to verify that you can get XP drivers for your hardware BEFORE formatting the drive.

Hi bg9208. I agree with Steve. Windows XP is set to end support in April of 2014 so it would be better if you kept Windows 7 on the desktop system. You can make the interface similar to Windows XP so it won't feel as different.

What motherboard, video card, and processor does the computer have?

Got to agree with Steve and Evan here. Tell us what you don't like and maybe we can help you get it the way you like.

Maybe you could leave Windows 7 intact and do a virtual install of XP on the same machine. I have not tried this yet, but maybe someone with more experience can guide you on it.

Like others have said: Windows XP is no longer an option, it will be obsolete in 8 months and have zero-day exploits forever shortly after.

Use Windows 7 for a month. You get used to it quickly.

If by chance you can't get used to it, use something like Classic Shell, but I'd suggest getting to grips with Windows 7 "as-is ".

Classic Shell is a nice touch to Windows 7, but I am staying with the Aero look.

Another great thing about Classic Shell is the ability to bring back the original Windows 7 start menu (my current setting looks like Windows Vista) by holding down the Shift key before clicking on the start button.
