    Hi all

I recently went with Sygate personal fire wall and went to thier site and did a stealth scan on my cpu to see if i was safe. all my ports that were scanned come up stealthed but these two. Can some one plese explain to me why they are not and how can i correct the problem to stealth them so thay can not respond to a probe or attack?

WEB 80 CLOSED This port has responded to our probes. This means that you are not running any application on this port, but it is still possible for someone to crash your computer through known TCP/IP stack vulnerabilities.

IDENT 113 CLOSED This port has responded to our probes. This means that you are not running any application on this port, but it is still possible for someone to crash your computer through known TCP/IP stack vulnerabilities.

Thanks so much for the help

    Hi FireDancer,

Welcome to the "wonderfull" world of computer security! :)

I notice that you have a router and thats whats showing up on those two ports, don't know for sure, I'm not running a router. Someone will respond that does and tell you for sure.

I know the wording from the test is a bit alarming, but the ports do show up as closed, which is the important aspect.

Go here to the Gibson site and take their tests, especially the "leak test" and "shields up" http://grc.com/intro.htm

When in the Gibson site, you will be asked to verify IP address, they have an extra tool for that. The resolution of that issue may be the answer to the port results.

Two more sites on Firewalls that may be helpful
