    Greetings,

I have partitioned my 80GB hard drive in half using the XP installation disk. IS there a way to REMOVE the partition and just have one solid drive again WITHOUT formatting the drive?

I am looking to do this safely as it is a work machine.

    Thanks!

    Hello Shandleyman,

Yes, with partitioning software such as Partition Magic.

    Hello Shandleyman,
    welcome to WindowsBBS ... :) ... !

You will need software like Partition Magic to accomplish that. I have never used it myself but it should be safe if executed correctly.

Someone else will surely tell you what to keep mind when doing the deed.

    Hi Christer,

I noticed you linked to Symantec's version of PM. I would recomend using PM8, the last pre Symantec version by Power Quest. Still around and less expensive. I forgot that Symantec bought Power Quest

I shall give it a shot. Eveyone seems to praise PM. It must mean something.

I'm going to throw another product into this mix. I used PM for a few years and decided that I liked Acronis Disk Director . http://www.acronis.com/

With Acronis, you remove the partition by merging the two partitions. It worked for me very easily with no errors. I frankly don't remember why I was unhappy with Partition Magic except that I could never get any help from them on anything. Acronis has been very responsive.

There are several other uses for Disk Director. You can download it and, I believe there is a trial period
