    Hi Ken
I would install it again and use spairinly.
Becouse any changes you made while you used it wont be undone when uninstalled, Ive uninstalled it without those errors.
Warrning though some options not to use with windows ME
    ======clipCopy paste============================
The latest version of TweakUI for Win Me (1.33) can be downloaded from
    Microsoft and installed as follows:

Microsoft seem to have changed some of the links to download v1.33 of TweakUI
(the version required for Win Me) but it can be obtained from
http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/powertoys/networking/nttweakui.asp(when I did this, double clicked on the downloaded tweak.exe it ran I had no clue where it went, it was in the windows temp dirrectory, then right click on the twaek inf and it will install)

Download to a folder with a short name (e.g. C:\Tweak), run to extract
components, right click on tweakui.inf and then install, close the help window
that comes up to allow install to finish. C:\Tweak can now be deleted and
TweakUI accessed via the Control Panel.

Just a few words of caution though if you are new to using TweakUI on Win Me.
    a) Do not change the first icon (documents) on the Desktop tab.
Doing this causes a number of script errors in Special Folders when using
    either WebView or Active desktop.
    b) Do not uncheck "Search Results" on the Desktop tab.
Doing this disables the Search in Explorer.
    c) Do not hide the TweakUI icon on the Control Panel tab.
    d) Do not uncheck "Show Control Panel on Start Menu" on the IE tab.
Doing this will prevent you from accessing the Control Panel including
    TweakUI.
    e) Do not uncheck "Shell Enhancements" on the IE tab.
This causes quite a few unexpected "problems ".another Microsoft Link
    ==============================================
    also look here:
    http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/tweakui2000.shtml

    ==============================================
    If you'd rather not install>
go start run type msconfig hit enter > use the startup tab
Is tweak still there ? there maybe two of them ,if so uncheck each
then apply and OK after reboot go start > search type *cpl and delete or rename any tweak cpl's
But you said the error message said something about unable to find this so you probaly dont have to complete this step.

    Lonny,

Thanks!!! i didn't re install, i went about it the other way and it worked! you rule my man!
there were 2 TWEAK UI listings and i unchecked both, re-booted and it worked.
i have another one for you: my computer is slow....is there any free ware or shareware that you would recommend for clearing out some of the usless files on my hard drive to speed it up a bit? i installed a trial version of "Window Washer" it cleans up slack file space etc.., but i'm looking for something more.
just to give you the background i bought my PC through a Co. called people PC about 3 yrs ago and with dial up service included it ran me about $3000. rip off!!! i really do not want to get rid of it, for obvious reasons, so can you recommmend something to help me out?
    Thanks again,
    Ken

"worked! you rule my man! "

Naw I just learned from experience what not to do, seams I keep stumbling into something new every day :)

Best advice , don't try every fix it utility you find out there.
stay away from (MOST)shareware trial-ware,freeware, unless its highly recommended, and even then don't just go out and try read up check a spyware data base, see if its listed ask questions elsewhere, see if others have problems with it,
Stay aware from registry cleaners, on windows me especially most don't take into account win me is different then 98 and XP.
Get read about install and before scanning with, update from within programs, SpyBot and Adaware either or,I use both
SpyBot is more intensive IF you let it cleanup (fix) windows user tracts there probably will be some bad results, I let it clean everything else. These are both in my signature.

Next time you start up the PC go start run type
cleanmgr /sagest:1 check all the box's and hit OK
this run command only needs done once,, then go start program
    >>>> to system tools disk cleanup use it , Go back afterwords and fallow the advice given when we use the more options tab
The second one about Installed programs is the most important
ie get rid of everything you don't use often.I find it best to uninstall one thing at a time then restart.

Afterwords and I mean after a couple restarts(to let things sink in)
run scandisk (in thurough mode) and then defrag
Both from safe mode,, only really need to do this maybe twice a year and if we install and uninstall alot of programs.

    "my computer is slow.."
You need to be more descriptive that that
That usually can be curred by learning about and how to trim what starts with windows
, and will require a little homework on your part , pacs portal
if you haven't already.go, let us know if you have any questions.
