    Hi Everyone!

I followed the EXCELLENT advice from Arie's article on making IE6 browsing more secure, but in the process of making the changes that he suggested, I found some things that I'd like to know how to fix....that is...if it's fixable!

    I hope these aren't stupid questions, but I'm still learning, so here goes;

Will you please tell me how to clean out all of the URLs that appear in my "trusted zone "; how to get rid of all of the "user names ", searches that are listed in the Google seardh space, or ANY words that appear in ANY space that utilizes the "Auto-complete" feature, (which I DO like, but there are getting to be too many entries in some of the spaces!!).

I make it a habit to regularly clear "temp files ", "cookies" and my "history ", but when I recently changed my security settings and made them a bit safer because of Arie's advice, I was TOTALLY FLOORED when I saw that EVERY PAGE that I had visited since I got this PC, (about 14 months ago), was listed in the "trusted sites "!!!!

I'm also curious why the contents of my Address Book are listed in my "User Profile "? I just happened to find that out the other day when I was doing my regular "housecleaning" of my PC.......is there a way to prevent the contents of my Address Book from going to my "User Profile "? I don't understand the connection between the two, anyway. I am VERY new at using a PC, (just a little over 2 years), so I'm always asking questions....I apologize if these questions sound stupid, but since I'm "self-taught ", it's really the only way I learn anything!

Will you please tell me how to clean out all of this unnecessary junk.......it probably doesn't take up a whole lot of space, but I do like to keep my PC as streamlined as possible.

Thanks in advance for the instructions on how to clean out these areas of my PC, and how to disassociate my Address Book from my User Profile.

    Gratefully,
    Spookie:)

    :) :) :)

    Hi Spookie

In IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Security - highlight Trusted Sites > Sites - click on the site you want to remove > Remove.
Google Tool Bar (Options) > More tab > uncheck 'Save search history ..........' close IE and then check 'Save Search history ......' again and start over. Not sure if this will do what you want.
    - repeat above on Autofill tab or ........ Tools > Internet Options > Content > Autocomplete > Clear Autocomplete History. Shut down IE . re-open IE and reset Autocomplete.

For Help on Googlr toolbar hit Help under Options.
It's your adress book - hence it is listed there. For other users their address book will be listed under their user profile.

    Hi Everyone!

    Thanks, PeteC!!!

I think you've solved my problems! I'm going to print out your instructions and use them for referral.....until I can do it without re-reading your excellent instructions!!

I'm a quick learner, though....it's just that I always feel like I'm asking such silly, basic questions:confused: I got interested in PCs quite by accident, and my goal is to eventually learn all there is to know about them......the trouble is, I can't afford the expensive computer courses, so I've learned everything from reading those, "Windows XP for Dummies" style books; from going to Microsoft's sites and reading all the KB articles I could; using whatever resources my Dell PC site offered in their tutorials; playing around with the PC itself; but mostly, I've been able to have nice people like YOU, (and many others on this Forum as well as a couple other "self-help" forums), to get me over the rough spots.

I couldn't make it without the help of people like you, who are so generous with their knowledge!

    Thanks again for your help!

    Gratefully,
    Spookie:)
