    Hi there,
I have looked through a whole ton of posts and have yet to find the same problem, so hopefully someone here can help. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 notebook that we had bought a DVI cable for to hook up to our LG flat screen. At first it worked really well and than one day while in the middle of watching a movie the tv and the pc went black. Now every time I hook the cable up the pc monitor goes black and the tv says invalid format. Any suggestions??

    Thanks a bunch

    Chantel

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

How did you set up the screens? There might be 3 ways of setting it up, Windows Display settings, a graphics manager supplied by the graphics adapter manufacturer or an "external screen" wizard that might be treating the TV as a projector.

Read in the laptop's user manual/guide about connecting an external screen. Look for a graphics management program (usually accessed by right-clicking on a blank place on the desktop). Read about connecting to a projector in the manual.

A "TV" has a limited resolution. If it is not described as being able to be used as a monitor, you might have too high a resolution.

Could graphics drivers have been updated?

    Matt
