    Hi Ramona:

I have only 2 extensions installed for Fx. I received the alert that updates were available. I clicked on the green update icon in the upper right of the Fx screen. The Firefox Update dialog appeared, checked for available updates and found one for each extention. I then clicked on the Install Now button, the throbber began wheeling, but no connection was made. I repeated this several times with the same result.

I also went to Tools> Extensions and pulled up the Extension Manager. Selecting an extension and hitting the Update button, verified that updates were available. Clicking on the Update button, however, produced the same lack of connection as described above.

Have similar issues been encountered trying to connnect with the update site or do I have a local issue to deal with?

    Bob,

Do you have "Allow websites to install software" enabled? That setting is found in Tools | Options | Web Features. If not, that would explain the problem.

No I didn't -- forgot about that one! I changed it and the download & install went fine. I'll have to remember to change the setting before downloading the updates going forward -- I prefer not to have the setting generally enabled.

    Thanks for the help!

    Bob,

A good move to elect not to install software unless it's your idea, and not the site's! I do the same thing...
