Common cause of jumpiness while streaming is the buffer time, which can be set to longer in MP options. Which version of MP are you using? Might want to try uninstalling then reinstalling MP.

Dave - with XP (and I think with ME as well), Media Player 9 is sunk so deeply into the OS that removing it would probably trash your system or at least make lots of stuff not work.

You may well be right Newt, but I seem to remember MP 8 being the default player for XP (not sure if ME was 7 or 8), and 9.0 being in the add/remove list on an SP1 installation. Still have an XP SP1 install on another drive, but have not booted to it yet to check. The XP SP2 install I'm currently working on does not have MP 9.0 in add/remove, nor is it in the sysoc.inf file. Odd, as I seem to remember MP 9.0 being an upgrade option when I installed SP2 from the MS cd. Thinking that it became more integrated than it was when installing SP2, and the only removal/uninstall option may be in $ServicePack2Uninstall$, though I wonder if it can be done separately from the entire SP2 update. Can anyone verify or dispell my thinking here?

    Coolwaters,

Will do some snooping around MS to see what, if any, info can be found for uninstalling/reinstalling. Out of curiosity, have you installed the SP2 update?

BTW, I also checked the uninstall list in Spybot with this SP2 installation. Not there.
