    Hi
If this is in the wrong place please move. Was not sure where to post.

On a reboot I got this...
Windows installer is trying to install TrayApp. It can not install says to use a CD or floopy or Find a installation package from a folder from which you can install the product TrayApp.

In a search I found these two folders...
    C:\col6907\setup\TrayApp.
    C:\hp\Drivers\hpiz350\setup\TrayApp.

Tried to use these and was told they were invalid to run setup.

I don't believe I have a TrayApp. CD which it says it needs??

    Can someone help me here?
    Thanks
    Geri

It sounds like you may have some gremlin trying to install itself and it has been cut off at the pass. Perhaps you should post a HiJackThis log in the Security forum to let the experts sort it out for you and help get rid of that nag screen.

Of course it could also be some aborted install that you have performed?? Do you recall any recent installs that may be relevant?

UPDATE: Check these Google hits, especially the first one since it appears the problem has been solved:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=trayapp.msi

Apparently it's not a gremlin per se but a HP utility gone awry.

    Thanks surferdude

I did a SR which solved my problem.
It seems that regseek deleted something from the registry that caused this.

Now that I know it's from Image Zone I know what CD it wants.

I have had nothing but problems with this software...came with my scanner, I believe that if I can just download the scanner essentials then Image Zone is going to go bye-bye :D

    Thanks again

Ifranview may be able to access your scanner for you, due to Xp's builtin Twain support.
To use, with Ifranview installed with all plugins, go to File then Select Twain Source. If your scanner is there select it, then go to File/Acquire, and see if you like what you get. If it doesn't work, all you lost is the download time for Ifranview, as it is free and works very well with images.
You will need the software drivers installed for the scanner if it is USB. Mine (old Hp Scanjet 4P) is SCSI and needs none for this to work.

Should work fine .. I use Irfanview and Adobe Elements 2 via HP 2610 All-in-One over my network. They both load HP scanner program to import graphic.
