Trap Exception

Please help! When I turn on my computer, all I get is a black and white screen with messages that began with:
TRAP00000006-------------------EXCEPTION-------------- with another half page of
codes/digits. Can you please tell me if this is a virus, or someone suggested maybe a
motherboard is gone. I can fax you the complete handwritten message I copied from the
screen if that is helpful to you. Thanks very much!
