    While going thru the process of upgrading to NAV '03, you all told me to be sure to uninstall all the old, first. (Who knew?) Well I did all that, but discovered (remembered?) that I have A LOT of watchdogs, or "guardians" on my PC. Belarc Advisor; Ad-Aware; Spybot; Big Fix; No Ads; Reg Cleaner and now Norton System Works Professional '03 with Speed Disc; Optimization Wizard; Clean Sweep; Ghost and "Go-Back" ! (Whew) The PC works OK, and I only have Big Fix, Spybot, NAV & Live Update setup to load at Start-Up, but do I really need all this stuff?:confused:

    You’ll get different opinions on this. IMO, Adaware, RegCleaner (never liked registry cleaners), BigFix and CleanSweep are unnecessary. Similar(ish) issues were discussed in this thread.

    Your Question;
    but do I really need all this stuff?

    Absolutely NOT. In my opinion, all that stuff is not needed in 98SE either

    Every one of them does things a llitle different and if YOU are not careful it can create more problems.

    Two or more programs trying to do the same job is a possible area for problems.

    I would suggest that the first item too dump is Norton System Works.

    I would go with something like AVG Anti-Virus and Kerio Firewall. They both do a good job WITHOUT loading up the system.

    PS.

    Edited to fit the original post. THis is in the 98 forum not XP.
