Is there a way to install a better dictionary in the TB spellchecker?

I know about other spell checkers such as tinyspell that you can use but I want to check the whole email and replace such things as "i" and words in all caps and words with numbers in them, etc..

TB is an excellent email program but the spell checker is ok for someone who is a good speller. This is the one area where OE is better than TB.

There was a a spellchecker version which I used till recently. There was also an extention, but it is no use to give, because its .xpi dpes nothing.
I never liked spellcheckers which expect you to know how to spell, but I really liked that version because it pointed out that something was wrong as I typed.
Unfortunately, having had a .zip version, I did not keep it.

Westside, recently installed Thunderbird In-Line SpellChecker v0.4.75 extension. Has an unorthodox .xpi install process. Were you referring to this extension? As a inline spell checker, works fine. It has "Auto completion interface" which I added in via text file list at authors site, but that part of the program does NOT seem to work .. unless I have it setup wrong.

The above extension does inline, but does NOT pickup "i" values. It may provide a solution if we could get the auto-complete to work.

I just figure out how to get auto-completion work. See authors page for numerous options. Once code is type into a an open compose screen, it stays resident
(including when TB is closed). Now when I type i it is auto changed to I.

Great stuff. After a lot of gyrations, I have everything working. You have to read the stuff at the author's site very carefully but with that and your explanation I've got it. ;)

In use, it works great. Install, setup, options can be challenging. :p
It is early in development, hopefully UI will become user friendly.

    Dennis,
thanks for pointing it out. I had, precisely, the extention which you referred to. I did not find anything particularly challanging, other than myself.
I was used to the fact that .xpi files are "activated" by drag and drop into the shortcut. It is, actually more like a door knock, and it works fine in Netscape and Mozilla, and I think in Firefox. At least this one does not do anything, but it works from Tools|Extentions|Install of the downloaded file. Smooth sailing after that. I tested it with a message beginning with: "Ithis the spelchecker that..." and it did its job.
We will see, since this morning, I not only was not able to install the .xpi, but I lost access to my TB1.02 profile.
I have a separate 1.0 profile, and it worked with that one.
