If there is someone in here that uses Opera9 and has T'Bird as the default mail client, I would ask if you open a site in Opera and rt click and select "send link by mail "? does T'Bird open on a compose page with the link added to the body or is it blank?

Using Firefox or IE7 works as it should but Opera only opens a T'Bird compose with no link in the body.

I think it is a bug in Opera.

Yes it does. You will have to go to Tools/ Preferences/Advanced in Opera... then scroll down to Programs and then mailto. Highlight this and then click on Edit. From there you have a choice of Open with Opera OR Open with default application (and make certain it is Thunderbird). I hope this helps.:)

Yes, that is the problem. All is set as prescribed, however, there is no link in the compose window when T'Bird opens.

Do you use the default application or do you use the open with other application and point it to Thunderbird?

Ah... you're right, of course. I hadn't noticed that until I tried it since I never send pages by email. So, I've been of no help to you. Sorry.

    Bill,

TB doesn't add the link in the compose window for me either, with Opera 9. The TB mailto command key in the registry (mine) is:
    C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~2\THUNDE~1.EXE -compose %1

    Located here:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command\

On the Opera Community Forum, this was brought up but there was no solution...

Thanks Ramona. I read many posts on the subject in the Opera Browser forum and no one had the answer. It worked great if you use the Opera mail client which I didn't like at all. It looks like they go out of their way to make it confusing to do something as simple as email.

It is a moot point now as I have unloaded Opera and have stopped the experiment. When I installed Opera, it took over my web shortcuts which was OK but when I uninstalled it simply ruined my associations and had to use 4 of Doug Knox's .reg files to get it straight. It was as if Opera was really ticked because i was dumping it.
