    Hi
I did a upgrade from XP to Vista on a HP PC on a friends computer.

He has a thin black line about 1/2 inch long on his desktop, if he double clicks on it, it goes away until he moves the cruser then it reappears.
No windows open or nothing comes up when clicked on.

Any ideas on what this might be? and how to get rid of it?

    Thanks
    Geri

If it's a vertical line, the only thing that comes to mind is that the Vista sidebar is trying to display and not quite getting it done.

Look in Task Manager to see if sidebar.exe is running. If so, do an End Task on it and see if the black line disappears.

If that's not it, start the Sidebar in Start>All Programs>Accessories and see if that has any effect on the line.

    Hi Miz
Thanks, but no it is a horizontal line, The side bar is up and working.
It is just a little lower then the middle of the monitor screen and on the left side of the center.

    Thanks
