HI I got an Abit Kg7-Raid mobo and for some reason memory port 3-4 are bad because when I use those it crashes my system. I got the most recent version of the BIOS in all the Dimm are registered and all crucial.. so I know its the mobo. However, I bought the retail Box 1.4 Ghx thunderbird and I was wondering what to do when my repalcement mobo comes as far as the therman paste is concerned. DO I need to put more on the heat sink now or what?

    Thanks

The new CPU should come with a fan - all of the retail boxed CPU's I've ever bought did - and the bottom of the new heatsink/fan should have a small pad on it where it rests on top of the CPU.

I've never added any thermal paste to one of these heatsinks - and I've used 15 or 20 in new systems in the last few months - never had a failure or over-heat condition.
