I have read all of the previous messages on this subject and they all start too high for me. I need some basics. I have seen how to install themes in the control pannel but I have also seen reference to add on packages. I am not sure if windows 98 SE will operate correctly if I simply install windows themes in the control pannel or if I need to add other programs such as plus?
Please start as if I know nothing (that is close to correct for me on this subject),I need a themes step by step.
    Thanks.

No need to install plus. All that's necessary is to install them from the control panel. To do this, open add>remove programs and click on the windows setup tab. Click once on desktop themes and then click details. Put a checkmark next to each of the themes you want installed. For sure you have to select desktop theme support. Once you've checked what you want, click OK and then click apply. You should then be able to use them by opening the desktop theme applet in the control panel. As for add ons there's all kinds of themes available on the internet that you can download and use. Some of them will install automatically and some you have to do the work yourself. There's usually instructions included with the download or on the page you're downloading it from. There's also apps available for you to make your own themes with. Or you can use the windows desktop theme applet to make your own although it's sort of tedious (but it works) . Hope this is what you were looking for. If you need more help post back.
