has anyone noticed that in the new outlook express - windows mail that the view layout function no longer gives one the ability to have the contact list display. or maybe i missed some thing but i could not find it in the layout function.

also why did they make such a drastic change to windows explorer - wow. took me a few minutes to get the hang of it and honestly i dont like it. maybe its because i have worked with explorer since the beginning and being an old timer with windows changes sometimes throw one.

You can have the Contacts file open and select from it, or do what I have done, put the Contacts in the Sidebar. It's then very easy to click on a contact to send mail.

it only took me about an hour to get the feel of vista and for the most part it aint bad. had one compatibilty problem with sonics dla which apparently is a kb that m.s. downloaded during the update. hopefully that will fix itself when m.s. downloads another kb to fix it.

2 things that bugged me the most were the windows explorer and the constant prompting from vista "are you sure" types prompts. i know the security is better but to bad theres not a way to streamline that a bit.

putting the address book on the sidebar is a unique thought. so far the couple clients didnt want the sidebar but its an interesting thought.

    thanks....greg

You can create a shortcut for the Explorer and edit the "properties" so it will open where you want it to, In the Target field enter this, it is what I use.

    C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,C:\

Mind you that if your Vista is installed to a different drive other than C you must correct the path. :)

not sure what your shortcut will do but will try on the next vista machine.

regarding explorer am more disappointed in the way the new explorer looks. as far as i can see it seems to be the most changed variable i have seen so far. i use explorer all the time for literally every thing i do with a computer but again will see what the command you gave does probably today when i build this new dell vista.

It's called Disable UAC and it's in the TOOLS tab.
