Just noticed that after I have deleted all internet files from LOCAL Settings\Temporary Internet Files, I did a right click on the folder icon and selected 'Properties' to see that it still had 13 folders and 5,740 files still inside, but when I go inside the folder there is nothing there. I have my settings on 'show all files' but for some reason I can see these folders and files.

Is there a way to access them and possibly clean them up???

    Cheers

Maco88--Reboot. Is that folder still "full "? If not, I suspect you do not have to worry about the files that I understand you wanted to delete, anyway.

Yes, I delete all the files, then even after a re-boot, I right click and select 'Properties" and it tells me there are (exampe) 3,672 file occupying 51,200,946 bytes etc etc, even though the
"Temporary Internet Files" folder is empty when I open it.

There must be a way to access these invisible folders and file, or is there a reason I am not able to view them?

    Cheers

I suppose that the simplest (though still unsatisfactory) answer to why you can't view them is that Billy G doesn't want you to.

You can, however, get rid of most of them ... open the Tools > Internet Options menu in IE and, on the General tab, click the Delete Files... button and OK your way out.

    Hi Maco88!

This has been discussed before but in short:

There are super hiddden sub folders in the TIF folder. These folders don´t show even if "show all" has been ticked.

They contain fragments of pages that were either not downloaded completely or interrupted, such as clicking the next link before the current page has loaded completely.

To get rid of these folders, move the TIF folder to a different location, reboot and then move it back to where You want it.
(I don´t think rebooting is necessary but I´m not sure, haven´t done this in a while.)

These folders are recreated immediately but they are empty ...... before they start filling up again.

The TIF folder is moved in IE > Tools > Internet options > Temporary Internet Files > Settings

See this thread in which I discuss in more depth.

    Christer

    Edited:

Jim posted while I was typing. What he suggests is not enough to get rid of these super hidden folders.
