    All,

I am getting a Norton message, "Drive Initialization error, Drive J ". On this drive there is a folder, NCDtree. In the folder there is a file, navinoc.dat.
The same folder and length file (97kb) is on my I drive.

I am running W2k and Systemworks Pro.

I have run Norton Disk Doctor with Fix Errors. It completes but skips the surface check. I don't know how to make it do it.

I have Win98 installed on the C drive, dual boot. I can run Check disk from there.

    Suggestions?

Yes, you should be able to run scandisk from Win 98, at least to do a "thorough" scan. Also try Scandisk in Win 2K.

I have only rarely come across it, but read about "mounting" a drive in the Win 2K help files, also check the MS knowledgebase
    http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1

First though, I suggest booting to the Systemworks CD and run DiskDoctor from there.

Is the J drive one of the partitions on your harddrive, a second harddrive or maybe a removable drive? Look up the "properties" for that drive.
