system restore

    will turning off system restore and turning back on help make my computer run faster.will i lose any programs or data.

    Turning it off/on will gain a small amount of hard drive space back but doubt you'd notice any difference.

    The only thing you lose is the ability to restore..

    If you want to have SR take up less room - and less restore points, then move the slider to the middle. The default max size for WinMe's SR is 10% of the HD.

    And as Steve wrote, turning SR off and on does nothing for your performance.
