I have a friend who recently purchased System mechanic Pro and is really pleased with all the features. My Norton Sys works is about 1 year old and now is the time I'm thinking of upgrading. I usually upgrade to the new sys works for the AV protection. He tells me System Mechanic Pro has superior AV protection, a Pop Up blocker, dail up connection enhancer, registry editor, Great defrager and many features not foumd with Norton Sys works.
Has anyone ever heard of this product?
I went to the website www.iolo.com and the write ups seem great but I guess I've been with Norton so long that any other product I know nothing about scares me a little. Any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance, Jack

I have used System Mechanic, and it performed as advertised. However, I use Norton Utilities and NIS because it updates more regularly, and many of the features in SM are redundant on this system. I think it has a free trial period (30 days)- why don't you give it a shot and see if it meets your needs?
