Synctoy won't install

I cannot get Synctoy 1.4 to install in Windows XP SP2 home edition
Help would be appreciated

 

Version 1.4 will not install if .NET Framework 1.1 is not installed or has been removed.

.NET Framework 2.0 will not suffice.

Make sure you downloaded the XP version; there is a Vista-only release of 1.4 and the download site is not terribly clear about this difference.

 

When I click on the download nothing happens, now warning message and no action taken.
I was quite careful to download the one specifically for my xp computer
I do have the proper framework installed and also have 2.0, should it be removed.
I have seen on other tech boards this same problem and no one had the solution. My son can install with no problems, I have tried disabling my firewall and anti virus programs to no avail.
I really do not have to have it, just curious, I believe power desk pro which I have installed does essentially the same thing.
I just like to find solutions to computer problems and this one has me stumped.

Leave both Framework installs. They are different products in a meaningful sense.

Question: are you using a copy of Synctoy executable, or did you download a fresh copy directly to your machine and attempt to run it?

Question: Do you use a username and password, or just Autologon as the sole user, or do you use a blank or empty password?
