Hi this is my first post here just to say hello to everyone, well here's a quick question, can anyone tell me if there is a way to identify what programe is using svchost, ie* in task manager its telling me that 5 svchost's are running, so id like 2 identify wat is actually using them, any help would be great.

    Thank you for your time.

You need to get to a cmd prompt (the DOS window thing via start => run => cmd) and then from the command line
    Code:
    tasklist /svc
    and ENTER.

You don't say which flavor of XP so you need to know that tasklist.exe is a part of Xp-pro but not of XP-home and while it will run, you need to download it and place the .exe in your \system32 folder.

Awk - sorry about that first link. Powertoys certainly was not what you wanted.

Glad the 2nd one was correct.
