Sudden BOOT problem

Ive searched and searched that microsoft knowledge base but cant find anything that seems to relate to my specific problem. :(

You see, out of nowhere the system suddenly just wont go into windows and just hangs there. Yet nothing will help to get it there either. Not doing a restore, or boot to last good startup, not boot logging, or debugging boot, nothing. And from everything I have read xp is suppose to have this almost fail safe system restore on it. Bull is what I say.

Then to top it all off, after repartitioning the hard drive and then reformatting, you would think I should be able to reinstall it. But no... When I try to reinstall a clean copy of both XP or 2000 the system locks up in the exact same place every time when it's detecting the devices. I have even disconnected everything that I possibly can too. No printer, no scanner, only the necessities do I have connected. Weird huh?

The strange thing is that XP comes with a system and software compatibility test that it runs before you install it so it will give you a report of anything and everything including your software that wont work on your system without getting upgraded drivers. Only one thing shows up on my report which I did get drivers for and updated it, which was my built in sound on my motherboard.

So after trying, and retrying, and retrying again, all of a sudden after about 6 times it takes the install. This whole senerio has happened 2 times too, exactly the same with each time but about 3 weeks apart from each other. Not a single resource has been able to give me any answers and believe me I have searched too. I know its something to do with an internal device or something that is blocking the install each time but I cant figure out why suddenly it will just take it after so many trys.

I guess I may never know. Yet now I am paranoid that this will happen again out of the blue since its happened 2x in a month. What is so sad is the fact that I love XP. It is the most stable operating system old Billy has created yet. Where after my upgrade to the 1.4GHz AThlon using windows SE my system was crashing or locking up maybe 10 times a day. After installing XP I havent had it lock up once or crash except for those 2 incidents that I explained above.

    ANY IDEAS GUYS??? :D

    System specs would help.

My suspicions would be hardware problems with

    1. Video board (most likely)
    2. Memory

    Specs coming...

    Specs coming...
Meanwhile let me mention the following:

-Mine is the professional version of XP.
    -processor is 1.4GHz AThlon
-The sound card I had trouble with is built into the mother board and it's cmedia, or something, on the asus board and yes I upgraded drivers to XP so it no longer comes up on my list.

    Will post specs asap. :)

Your suspicions that it would be hardware problems is apparently accurate to me. That it may be the video card is also logical. So then the procedue would be to beg/borrow/steal another video card for troubleshooting this. As for memory, I could run a memory checker on the installed memory. Sound ok?

    Specs

I don't see a way to attach a text file here (the specs output by windowsXP) so perhaps someone can tell me exactly what would be helpful here??

I will post a bit of it here anyway:
