    Hi PeteC

There's a coincidence, I was just about to post the same problem for a friend, I'm anxiously awaiting a reply from Hayden.

We keep going around in circles and back to the "BSOD" Don't know if it helps any but at the bottom it says STOP 0x000000ED (0x823D19E0,0xC0000006,0x00000000,0x00000000)

He didn't have the word "Video" pop up though.

He thinks he has a Dell XP disk and a Recovery Disk and is going to try and locate them - what happens then.

    Many thanks.

From the thread from which you were split ....

    Hmm - it's catching :)

"STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" Error Message When You Restart Your Computer or Upgrade to Windows XP

Stop 0x000000ED Error Message When Volume on IDE Drive with Caching Enabled Is Mounted

Both recommend running chkdsk with the r switch - chldsk /r from the Recovery Console, for which a full copy of XP is required. I think the Dell disk should be a full copy.

As I understand the situation the computer does not boot but loops so it will not be possible to get to the dump data.
