When I am doing some editing or playing sound files the files are
displayed as "List" and I want to see "Details" and I do not see the "Modified" column "

I know how to change these settings but as soon as I go out of that box
and come back in, my settings are not saved.

How can I get that box configured and have it stay that way when I next
    come in?

    Sorry. Confused.

Exactly how are you getting where to do what when it doesn't display like you want?

    one example:

From Windows Media Player, select OPEN and this shows the listbox of files.

The box comes up in 'List' format instead of 'Details' format. I select Details format and then it does show 'Modified' date. I can click on the title line and get Modified dates but I want it to come up that way from Media Player.

It's not only that app that does it but that was the one I thought of first.

Mine does just like yours and I thought I could go to folder options and make all folders open the same but the selector in folder options is grayed out. Probably a registry hack to change the open box but I have no idea how it could be done. Sorry.

    Sometimes toggling
the "choose details" in View seems to help. I often use the little views icon,(looks like notebook paper with dots on it) because I want to change back and forth how certain files are presented.
