Start up freezing

    Have a Dell PC XP Pro... Computer is freezing upon start up... Cannot get OS to load in any Safe mode... OS stored on HD... anyone have an idea on how I can get the OS to load?

    ya, no floppy drive on this PC... I guess I can try creating a boot disc on a CD, right?

    another thing... it goes past the Post and gives the Windows loading screen... that's where it hangs...

    It is either a hard drive issue with your boot loader files, or a registry issue.

    If you are using SATA or RAID drives under XP, you cannot afford not to be without a floppy drive in my opinion.
    If you look the connectors are there on the motherboard. Throw an old floppy drive on the machine. The only problem of course is laptops. In that case be certain you have an external device you can use to store and restore images.
