I can't remember how to edit the listing of "all programs" that are in the start menu- such as adding a folder to consolidate the listing.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Debbie!

In Explorer, find C:\Windows\Start menu\Programs, right-click in the right hand panel and select "New folder ", name it and hit "Enter ".

    Regards,
    Christer

    Start-All Programs editing

Thanks, perhaps I am overlooking the obvious but when I go to Explorer and do as you suggested the listings are not the same as when I just hit, start ,all programs. I am using XP.

Since You posted to the Windows ME section I thought that was the OS.

I have an old LapTop with an experimental installation of Windows XP Pro, which I fool around with just to find out how stupid I can be without getting punished.

I´m not 100% sure but I believe that Windows XP Home is the same in this respect.
In Explorer, find C:\Documents and Settings.

There are at least two sub-folders, one for "All users" and one for each "User name" where You´ll find a Start menu-folder with a Program-folder and Sub-folders.
In the respective Program-folder You can create New Sub-folders and arrange Your programs.

I believe that You need to be logged in with administrator rights to see the "All users "-folder and in addition to Your own "User-folder" all other "User-folders ".

    I hope this helps,
    Christer

    HI,

I am sorry for not asking in this question in the correct OS but you were right and it worked as it should. Thank you so much. I knew it was simple, I just couldn't remember.
    Thanks again.
