Okay, this is going to sound really stupid, but I can't figure it out. I've got the temporary use of a laptop running Win 98, and sincee it had never been used online, I've installed Spybot, along with e-Trust and Adaware.

The probelm is with Spybot, though. Am I missing something, or does the window that pops up to warn you of potential registry changes not identify what the buttons do? So far, I have accidentally allowed three changes that I specificially didn't want, simply because the buttons aren't visible. Now I can't even figure out how to dis-alllow those changes! It's been so long since I had to worry about this stuff I feel really foolish!

The question really is - what are the buttons at the bottom of that window, where all I see is "remember this decision" "?" and "info "

The tabs are labeled allow and deny with the first letter underlined.
So, alt-d denys and alt-a allows. If the window is active the keystrokes work. On my box it's frequently not. You can alt-tab to it to make sure it's active, if you can't tell otherwise. Alt-r will check 'remember'.

If you are running the latest version of Spybot - 1.4 there is a bug in the TeaTimer dialogue box which garbles/overlays the display. The author's know about this, but as yet there is no patch.

Either turn off Teatimer or use the keyboard shortcuts posted by sparrow.

If you are very careful you can catch the edge of the Allow box with the mouse - it's a bit of a PITA, but apparently caused by the software used to program parts of Spybot - details on the Spybot forum.

Thanks - I must have caught the edge at one point, because I seem to have allowed things I never intended!
