has anyone using spybot noticed that when it prompts you to accept or deny a change that the accept and deny buttons dont display properly. have seen that recently when installing on new machines. have tried changing graphics settings no effect.

not a big deal just wondering if anyone else is seeing this or am i going nuts.

Yes - it's a known bug in v 1.4 - acknowledged on the Spybot forum by the developers and said to be due to a problem with the database handler (Boreland or Delphi). A fix is promised - sometime.

Should have mentioned the keyboard workaround until this glitch is fixed ....

    Alt+A - Allow

    Alt+D - Deny

SIMPLE Fix for Spybot Alert Pop-up Display Problem

gghartman, since your Computer Experience is "experienced ", I thought you might be willing to try a "do it yourself" fix I did a few months ago.

If that display glitch really starts to bother you, you may want to try a fix I found on the official Spybot S&D forums:
    http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?showtopic=31466&st=15

    Link to Resource Hacker:
    http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

Be sure TeaTimer is NOT running while you apply the fix.

I applied this fix in the summer with no apparent ill effects. I don't run TeaTimer now since I use a different registry monitor but TeaTimer did work well when I was using it after the fix.

IMO, that alert popup glitch in SS&D is a major bug since I regularly got those alert popups for awhile when I was tweaking my security settings and such last summer. I was surprised an official patch/update was not issued quickly.

Moderators: I looked in the Spybot S&D v1.4 license agreement and didn't find any statements that appear to prohibit this fix. I found the fix in the official Spybot S&D forums and the fix still exists in the forums. I looked through several follow-up posts and did not see any moderator/administrator/author objections to the fix. Therefore, I do not think I am violating the Windows BBS Posting Rules. If you still find it necessary to delete this post, you won't get any arguments from me. :)

i like those links you sent. i will give it a try on the next machine i have on my bench. thats pretty slick to be able to modify an .exe file and then recompile.

i do also agree with one person on your link that all you got to do is click right above the X mark and it works. very interesting readings those post were.

    thanks to all.

I see no problem posting the workaround - especially as the source is the official Spybot forum. I had seen this fix previously, but decided against trying to implement it - maybe I'll give it a try as that glitch is becoming ultra annoying :) - to the extent that I loaded an earlier version back onto the laptop.

Thanks for your openness and concern.

The fix mailman posted is so unbelievably simple that I wonder what all the fuss is about at Spybot - works like a charm - and I know nothing about programming :)

I noticed that the unmodified (original) TeaTimer.exe is saved as TeaTimer_original.exe so if any problems do arise it is possible to revert without reinstalling Spybot.

That's exactly the reason I was surprised a patch/update wasn't issued quickly by the author(s) of SS&D. Since you stated the fix is "unbelievably simple ", I took the liberty of adding a descriptive title to my above post. :)

Thanks for your replies and blessing, Pete. I certainly don't want to jeopardize my reputation on this (or any other) BBS/forum.

I was also hesitant to apply the fix when I first discovered it because the fix was posted by someone with a low post count. I read through follow-up posts then and, after seeing so many replies where people stated it "worked like a charm ", I took a chance and I'm glad I did.
