I recently took my Dad's advice and downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy. Wow! It found 67 problems, and I've only had this computer since September. I got rid of all but two. Those two were related to Microsoft Works, I believe, and it said my spellchecker in Outlook Express might not work without it.

Anyway, my question is, if I have Spybot, do I need Adaware? Do they serve different functions? I'm not real sure just what Adaware does.

Thanks in advance, and Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate this holiday.

I use both and update/run both about once a week.

They do similar things when it comes to spyware/malware but often one will find baddies the other misses.

Good idea with Spybot to Immunize too. Stops a huge number (over 450 last time I checked) of spyware/malware apps from ever getting loaded on the PC. Note that after you click the large Immunize button, you have only been taken to the correct section and still need to run the Immunize feature.
