I got the Access is denied error message, which comes well into the install phase and well after the download phase.

Rather than go back to downloading from Update again, can I access the download package that is presumably sitting somewhere in the computer to try working around the install as advised in Method 2 of Article ID 949377. If so, where is the download located?

    Bill.

Hi BillW, My advise would be to go back to Update and start the process again. I had a hiccup a couple of days ago when the installation on one of my comps stalled for a very long time, so I cancelled and went back to MS Update and started the process again and it went quite OK and all is operating fine. Did you download to Desktop originally or just Download and Install? You may have a Temp file with KB936929 (SP3) but I don't think it will create any problems. It does pay to ensure that you have your comp as clean as possible by using Cleaners as recommended by Mike Flynn in an earlier Post. I have now successfully installed SP3 on 5 HomeBuilt Home computers and all are working AOK and smoothly giving the impression of a slight increase in operational speed. Try again and lets know how it goes. Neil.:)
