:confused:Hi,I installed SP2 from a MS disk I ordered. All went well but after install my internet connection kept failing and links in both my browsers failed toopen and disconnected. The computer seemed to run slower ie: slower to react when switching folders etc.Tried all sorts to locate problems including install of browsers and connections, drivers for modems etc.Went for unistall, all is well instantly.I noticed in some replies that they unistalled firewalls and virus software to begin with.I followed the instruction that said to close these and did.Was it meant to say unistall????.Interested to try again once I have a few more clues what I need to do.Thanks Dave.

moamanz--Are you saying you could connect to the internet (but that it subsequently went down)? Or could you not connect at all?
I see you now have uninstalled SP2, right? You might try installing again, but this time disable your antivirus while installing. (Reenable once installed.)
Unless you are using the internet as part of the installation procedure, I do not see what role the firewall would play in the installation. However, SP2 installs its own firewall, and if you have another (like Zone Alarm) already installed, there could be conflicts. Shut one off (and probably eventually uninstall).
