When i baught my new Dell system over a year ago i had a program that came with it called Sonic DLA. I had used the program for some time. But now as games get bigger this program has become increasingly annoying. Most new games now come on DVD disks. Sonic DLA pops up a message when ever you insert a DVD game. It said something like, Your version of sonic DLA cannot write to or edit these files. Each time i inseted a large disk or a non-recordable for that matter, it poped up a message. I learnt to ignore it. However recently i removed the program for it really did get on my nerves. So i went to add remove programs and clicked on Sonic DLA and uninstalled it. Thats when the problems started. It now comes with the message Your version of {pconfig} cannot write to or edit these files. I assumed that the uninstaller did not remove all of this program, what is more there is a link under the add and remove programs called sonic DLA still. Numerous attempts to remove it has failed. It comes up with a message halfway through saying that your version of uninstaller cannot remove this program due to a certian file is missing. It is driving me nuts!!! Is there anybody that could help me. I have not got the program to reinstall for it came with my pc when i bought it, and i cannot uninstall it.

Thanks in advance this is driving me crazy. :(

Ice - Welcome to the Board :)
Are you sure that it's not on one of the Dell support CD's which came with your PC? If not you can download it from Dell here

Reinstall it and then uninstall it again.

I have tried to uninstall it but an error comes up during uninstall saying "There is a problem with your windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Please contact your vendor." When i run the installer it says that i must uninstall my previous version. But of course it wont let me. I have tried my disk and the download link. I cannot even find the folder that sonic DLA is in. I have seached for it and cannot find it anywhere. Any suggestions???

    Thanx 4 ur help

The usual Catch 22 situation - can't reinstall without first uninstalling. How I hate software written like that:D

My guess is that you will find Sonic DLA in Program files ....

Have you installed the update to Windows Installer which was released recently? for details see ....

Windows Installer 3.1 (v2) is available

I suggest you install that and try again :)

If that doesn't work there is another way, but you will first need to know where it is installed!

Odds are that it is a hidden file.

    Sure you know, but ...

Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View and check 'Show hidden ....' and uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files' . Remember to set it back the way it was when you're done.

If Windows search doesn't find it try Agent Ransack (freeware) - much better than Windows - I use the Pro version exclusively.
