What is the trick to installing a software modem? W2Kpro wont recognize the modem .... even with "Have Disk ".

The hardware claims PnP and very little guidance is provided. I suppose one should not need a lot of guidance with PnP .... lol ...

I would say yes the trick is to dump the software Modem and get a GOOD Full Blown Modem. ( ExternaL )

Was the Modem pre-existing ? Mainly an Internal PCI WinModem type ?.

If so a different OS not recognizing it is not a bit uncommon.

I am also hearing that Win2K and XP are much happier with an External.

    Lots & Lots & Lots O' Laughs.

How well that works has a lot to do with how the BIOS is setup. I myself have found it better to set PnP OS to no and let the BIOS handle things. But I have not dealt with 2K either.

But as far as your Modem problem goes that may well be just a Modem problems. Some of then do not seem to care for the OS being changed.
