I am a little slow, but I recently noticed in my e-mail program that on the far right side of the of the "compose" window and for some stupid reason, I can't even think of the name of the menu options?, there is an icon for adding smiley faces.

I can't add any to my message no matter how many times I try.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Did you click on the smiley's button? If you click and hold, you should see a drop down column of several smileys. You can select the ones you want from the list.

Yes, that's what started all of this. I just HAPPENED to notice the option after all this time. I found the drop down box and then after inserting the Smilies I soon discovered that it wasn't working the way that I thought it should.

    Thanks.

    Hi vegaspat,

Have you enabled: Display emoticons as graphics?

    Setting found here:
Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Message Display

If not, then that is probably why you can't see the graphic emoticon, and only the text.

    Ramona,

Yes, I did have that option enabled. I've done several tests on myself and a couple of friends. It seems to be rather sporadic. I suspect that if Outlook is an issue, that could be the problem. The one friend uses Netscape at home and probably something else at work. I'm sure it is NOT Netscape.

    Thanks for your time.
