Hi, I'm currently using an older Thinkpad (running XP) which is second-hand and has had it's share of weird-but-typical Windows quirks and bugs. I've found this forum invaluable in helping me get through some of the more obscure ones like task-bars that won't auto-hide and things like that, with equally obscure and counter-intuitive solutions.

As a former OSX/mac user I know a forum like this is invaluable as the two are worlds apart in so many respects and it has already saved me hours of staring at my Windows box like this:  in sheer disbelief.

As I make the transition to a bigger box with Windows 7 and a bunch of input devices and working with Android and such, I'm confident I'll need to be part of this community, and I may even have the odd insight to offer.

My main interests are in finding clever ways to use my computer to write poetry and literature, mock up visual art ideas and make music. Like I said, I used to have a mac setup, but I got really sick for a long while and had to sell it off and so I'm starting from scratch the Windows way and looking forward to playing around with features like speech recognition and hand-writing, and syncing similar apps on a new Android phone with Windows 7 and seeing how it all works.
