The Company has not responded to my request so it looks like it is time to ask the experts again.

I am using Windows XP Pro.

I upgraded my system and installed an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe MotherBoard, but when I Boot, I get a "Found New Hardware" message, twice, and these indicate an SM Bus Controller and an Ethernet Controller.

Using the automatic install of the Drivers does not work, because they cannot be found for some reason, and a Google search does not help either. Both also show up in the Device Manager with a Yellow '?' before the names.

Would anyone have any suggestions as to how I can correct this?

    Many Thanks.

Didn't your new board come with a driver CD? Any good mainboard will supply drivers.

Your board uses the Nforce 2 chipset and btw, is quite a sweet board. After you install XP Pro, you'll need to immediately update to XP Service Pack 1 if your version of Pro is not XP Pro SP1.

Next go to nvidia.com and download their latest Nforce 2 platform drivers. Next go into your bios and enable/disable the onboard devices that you wish or don't wish to use (sound, NIC, etc).

Then double-click on the executable you just dl'ed to install the Nforce2 platform drivers. SM Bus and Ethernet controllers are exactly what you'd find on a typical Nforce 2 board. I recommend NOT installing the Nvidia IDE drivers. They still appear to be a ****-shoot for many people. The old Microsoft IDE drivers will do just fine.

The caveat here is that if your version of XP Pro is not an "SP1 version ", you'll have to somehow get the Nforce2 drivers w/o using the onboard nic. It was a major PITA when I did this. It's much easier with an SP1 version of XP Pro.

This will take care of your '?' devices.
