    Had to remove defective Master HD, (Noisy and did not pass diagnostic scan ) the system had a Master & Slave setup, worked ok until Master became defective, Slave was partitioned 50/50.
    Set slave as Master, altered jumper to Master only, ( jumper settings on Western HD showed NO jumper for single drive.
    Boot up showed error as follows;
    'A problem has been detected, remove newly installed HD, run CHKDSK/F, Restart.'
    followed by; Stop:0x0000007B. (0xF894C528,0x0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000).
    Cannot get into pc to run CHKDSK or do diagnostic drive scan.
    What next please.
    Spanner.

    Did you move the drive to the master slot on the ribbon cable?

    Thanks Doc and Steve R.
    Moved 'slave' to last connection on ribbon cable,the cable connections are not marked 'Master' & ' Slave' as some I have seen.
    Inserted system disk (XP) and pressed 'r' for recovery as suggested, message on screen asking what I wanted to log on to , or press 'enter' to restart, what should I have typed ? as it did not respond to C:\ .or Windows XP. At this point I had no where to go as whatever I typed it responded with a wrong instruction message.
    So I pressed 'Enter' out of frustration, and got a message that a problem had been detected.Check for viruses, ( how can I ???). Remove newly installed HD, and run CHKDSK/F,( With No Drive connected ?).
    And then=== STOP:0x0000007B (0xF894C528,0xC0000034,0x00000000 )etc;
    Tried Safe Mode, same message, have done nothing to motherboard as far as I know.
    Explanation please.
    Owner threatening to re-join the army, he is 78,
    Thanks
    Spanner.

    The
    "STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF741B84C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) "
    error can occur when the Windows XP registry entries and the drivers for the mass storage controller are either incorrect or missing. For IDE controllers, there are several different chip sets available, such as Intel, VIA, and Promise. Each chip set has a different Plug-n-Play identifier (PnP-ID). The correct PnP-ID information must be in the registry before startup so that Windows XP can initialize the correct drivers.

    5. When your computer reboots, if you see a message about pressing any key to boot from CD, do not press any keys. Setup will then continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.
