I cleaned my registry after uninstalling SiteAdvisor.

Then I tried SiteAdvisor versions 20.0, 21.0, 22.0, and 23.0 and they ALL produce the anomaly I have described.

Please let me know if you can or cannot reproduce this anomaly with your Firefox/SiteAdvisor.

When I Google "C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe (*** hidden *** ) " (including the quotes), I see the Google results page as displayed in the "Google_GrayBalloon.jpg" image attached to this message (while my mouse pointer is hovering on the gray question mark).

If I CLICK on the gray question mark, a SiteAdvisor "Web Safety Ratings" information page about the site comes up as displayed in my 2nd attached image titled "SiteAdvisor_InfoPage.jpg ".

If you compare these two images, I think you will see the contradiction I am describing. :)

If I actually go to the website (gmer.net), the SiteAdvisor indicator at the bottom of my Firefox window displays as GREEN (matching SiteAdvisor's Web Safety Ratings information page but contradicting the gray balloon on the Google page).

    The Contradiction:

Gray Balloon: "We've tested hundreds of thousands of sites but haven't tested this one yet. "

    versus

SiteAdvisor's Web Safety Ratings Page: "We tested this site and didn't find any significant problems. "

    mailman,

I get the identical results. Looks like SiteAdvisor is at fault here, not keeping their site information synchronized.

I'm certainly glad that you have advised them of the contradiction in the site safety rating on those sites you accessed. This kind of discrepancy makes using the extension totally ineffectual...

    Thanks, Ramona!

I'm glad to know it isn't a problem that's unique to this machine (and the two other machines I tested with). :)

I suspect the same anomaly occurs with Internet Explorer and SiteAdvisor.

At least it reduces my confidence overall with SiteAdvisor. I don't know which claim is correct. (i.e., Was the site tested or wasn't it?) This anomaly sure brings up a lot of questions in my mind.

I'll continue to click on the gray questions marks when I need to but all those extra clicks are a pain when performing some searches.

I also found the "McAfeeHelp Technical Support" page with a form for submitting my information. Had to go through several screens of FAQs, "Virtual Technician" screens, etc. to find it.

I will include a brief description of the issue with the URL for this thread.

Thanks again for verifying! I now can let McAfee know that it is a problem that affects most/all people that use Firefox with the SiteAdvisor extension (and possibly Internet Explorer users as well).

I just finished a chat session with a SiteAdvisor Support representative. I am including the contents of that chat here in case anyone is interested.

I have obfuscated/changed names, e-mail addresses, and other sensitive information. Also removed several smileys from the chat since Windows BBS allows a maximum of 8 smileys per message and I had 13. :)

    Hi, all!

ALREADY, I got a reply from a McAfee support representative about the "contradiction anomaly "! :)

As far as my issue is concerned, the case is closed. :)

    Thanks for your assistance, everyone!

EDIT: BTW, I apologize to those of you who may feel like I hijacked this thread. When I started posting in this thread, I thought it might be related. Looks like I was wrong.
