I am trying to transfer files from my old Win98 to my new WinXP.
I have run the wizard on both computers and am using a double cross lan cable that runs from computer to computer. I have named both computers and the home network. I can see the shared folder file but not the other computer name. What do I need to do to see the other computer? I would appreciate the help. So I can transfer the files.

    Thanks

Just in case it has to do with name issues, make sure both PCs have different names, that the names are 8 characters or less in length, that the names contain only alphanumeric characters and no spaces.

After that make sure they are both in the same workgroup. Same naming convention for it.

Now install NetBeui on both PCs. Easy on 98 and maybe already there. For XP you have to work at it a little since Microsoft hid the install files but Here is how they say to do it.

No additional setup should be needed for a netbeui connection and you should be able to move your files.
