Recently purchased Windows 2000 Professional Upgrade to upgrade existing Win 98 SE.

Have a PC clone with Intel MB, WD HDD (40 GB) Celeron 1.1 and 128 MB ram. Supposedly meeting all minimums.

    Setup proceeds thru these steps,
    Preparing List of components.
    Preparing Setup Data Base.

Then begind the Examining Programs procedure and delivers this error message:

    Setup needs more memory.
Close all open programs and click retry.
If no other programs are open, click cancel.

If minimum is 64 MB, and I have 128 at 87 % Free, what is the issue with lack of memory?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you've been starting setup from within SE, try starting from a DOS boot floppy, or better, by booting the w2k CD.

Will this work for an upgrade or just a clean install?
