I tried sending a small .MPG file as an attachment to e-mail. It took forever and I had to cancel it. Is there some other way to send an .MPG file? I've seen camera ads that talk about sending movies to friends. If I have to get special software, does the other person need it, too? I'm using Windows ME.

Mpg's can be very large files and either take a long time to send, or will be rejected by your ISP if the size is larger than the max allowed attachment.

Many cameras come with software that produce relatively small video files for emailing. The smaller the file, the poorer the quality. Most do not require that any special software be installed on the recipient's computer.

Windows Movie Maker produces smaller files than mpg's generally are.

Programs like VirtualDub ( http://www.virtualdub.com/download ) allow you to re-encode the movie to a smaller size, but are not easy to learn to operate.
