I have a NetWave Base II Blitzz router, which is connected to my 3 computers. I have a neighbor who is stealing my internet connection. what I have been told is, that I can configure my router to block my neighbors from connnecting to my routers signal. my question is, can you direct me to a site that tells me how to do this? or can somebody here be nice enough to tell me how. I lost my software for the router.

Generally, every wireless router has their security option.

For example(for linksys router), you can just simply set these:

    WEP, 64bits, passphrase= "whatever you want "

Then to your computers. setup the same passphrase or the key that generated from passphrase.

Normally you get there by entering
    Code:
    http://192.168.1.1
    in your browser's address field.

Check your routers manual. You'll also need a username/password, this should be listed in the manual.

If that doesn't work, at a command enter
    Code:
    IPCONFIG /ALL
Then replace 192.168.1.1 with the IP address of the device shown as "Default Gateway ". That device should be your router.

Wifi routers and access points have a control panel accessed via a web browser. Most all have a page in them called "wireless" or "wireless security" or "security ". Once there set up the router security to use WAP, not WEP. WEP is insecure and can be compromised in 5 minutes using a linux computer. But the average neighbor will not be doing this unless he is still intent on getting free internet from you.
