All of a sudden I get an error window saying "Internet Explorer Script Error" when launching various URLs. Each error is always showing:
    Line: 2
Char: this varies one time it may be 5771 on one URL and then it might be 5091 on another URL
    Error: Expected "˜}'
    Code: 0
URL: Various Samples: http://www.pcworld.com/ or http://www.samsungusa.com

It doesn't seem to make any difference whether I click on Yes or No to the question "Do you want to continue running scripts on this page ". I continue on as if the error didn't happen in the first place. Its just annoying as all #@$%.

My operating system is Windows 98 SE.
    IE version 6.0.2800.110615

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

rgaleh--You have doctored the actual message you got, but I suspect these messages are for the writer of the site. You can set things so you do not get these messages in the future by clicking IETools|Internet Options|Advanced tab|Browsing and check the box "Disable script debugging" and uncheck the box "Display a notification... ".

Jim: Thanks for your prompt reply. Made all the changes to the perimeters you indicated but am getting the same script errors. I don't understand your comment about my having doctored the actual message I got. The only thing I left out is that an Explanation sign inside a yellow triangle followed by the statement "An error has occured in the script on this page." I could E-Mail you an exact picture of the error window if that would help.

rgaleh--Sorry to hear my suggestion did not work. That triangular error icon and message is also usually a sign of the problem I mentioned.
But I have no further ideas. Hope someone else will chime in.
At least you can access the sites when you click off the message, even though understandably annoying.
P.S. I had no problems accessing the PCWorld site, but never did get the Samsung site to load completely. On the other hand the Internet seems slow today for me.

Is that a typo ? should be IE version 6.0.2800.1106
Next time you get a script error mark the box to not show
remove the check in [ ] always dispay the message when a page has errors

If you have --tools intenet options advanced [X]disable script debugging and unchecked [ ] display a message about every script error. and still get script errors.
Only thing I can think is you use one of those compuserve netscape versions 5 through 6 that uses IE ?
If you are minumize it after connecting and surf with IE

Jim and Lonny: Thanks for your help. This is what I did to eliminate those script errors. I shut down my ZoneAlarm firewall application, and since I did that no problems. Now I'm going to harass the techs at ZoneAlarm for an explanation. Again thanks for your time.

rgaleh--Thanks for letting us know what solved the problem. Lots of people have problems accessing websites due to ZA and/or PopUp Stoppers. But a script error message is a new one.
Did you only recently install ZA?

Jim: Now that you brought it up I did update ZoneAlarm Pro in April. My minds a little fuzzy as to when the errors started but you may have given me something to check out. Thanks
