Please help. I recently installed windows sp2 and IE7. Now I am unable to change my screen resolution and I have a half inch black space on the right side of my screen. The settings are MULTIPLE MONITORS on NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go. I cannot go back to default monitor nor can I change the resolution. If I try to change anything, it reverts immediately to the 1024x768 with the black space on the right side of the screen. Any suggestions?

Also, this is a laptop...not a desktop. I've tried changing the refresh rate and the only thing available is 60htz. All others are not available. I'm thinking it has something to do with the multiple monitor option but I'm not sure.

If it's a CRT monitor try changing the Screen Refresh Rate. This often cures the problem you discribe.
