Had to format and reinstall. All seems OK except my ViewSonic VA720 flat screen. using a Hercules 3D Prophet II MX with latest drivers for both. Operating system is WIN 98 SE.

Every time I change programs the entire screen seems to look like it's operating in Safe Mode. Only lasts a few seconds until the new program opens and the screen returns to normal 250 colors at 800x600 resolution. Can any one explain the problem, and more important, how to correct it?

    Hi Marvin,
I assume you tried a driver reinstall for the video card - not with the latest drivers, but from the CDs that came with the card ?
It has happened to me that the LATEST drivers do not work correctly with my Nvidia TNT card which is only about 18 months old.
    regards

I applied the latest drivers. First I went to VIDA and that didn't work, so I went to Hercules and downloaded their latest driver for my Phantom II MX card. Put that on and had same problem. I used the VIDA driver prior to formatting and re-installation and did not have this problem.

Not really - just letting you know that I did try updating drivers to no avail.
