Does anyone know if there is a way to save email folders to disk? So far it is looking like it will take forever to pick them out one e-mail at a time.

I might have to create a new e-mail account, and have been told that if the folders are not saved, they are lost in the process.

    We are using Netscape 4.7

This link is for 98 but it may work for 95 as well.

Since this is more specific to Netscape than it is to Windows you also may get more responses if this is moved to the Netscape and Mozilla forum - lots of very sharp and knowledgeable people in there; perhaps someone in Admin will be kind enough to move the message.

    Cheers,

    ICE

    E-mail mess

Thanks ICE' as I am running Win95 (what's left of it after 6 years) I didn't think to shift this question of saving e-mail to disk, to a Netscape Forum.
I read all the more serious issues that people are having with thier computers I have to say we have been pretty lucky to get this far.

From what I read we might be better off to load Mozzila on our new system,(once I get a new power supply installed) and forget about loading Netscape 7.1.

I will in the future, get my Forums sorted out.
    Thanks for the heads up.

    Hi revnev,

To back up your Mail files to CD, you can copy the entire Mail folder. You could also back up the entire Users folder, and then have your Profile data, and Mail secured.

If you copy the entire Users Folder (recommended)
    First compact your Mail folders
    Delete the Cache folder
    Delete the netscape.hst file

The file and folder are located in:
    C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\username

Next, zip the Users folder, or Mail folder, whichever way you decide to back up. If you don't zip the folders, when you copy the Mail back to your HD, the file attributes will be "Read Only ". The file system that Windows uses to read CD-ROMs assumes that the discs are a read-only medium. Zipping the folders prevents this from happening.

Post back with any further questions.

    Ramona :D
