I have RRAS setup on my server (not 100% sure of the benefits of RRAS) but I cannot get it to share the net out? I could use ICS but then I cant use RRAS and im sure there's a good benefit to having it rather than ICS,

I used the auto config wizard once server was installed to set it up, I have tried fiddling with some settings and looking it up in help but no luck..

    ne suggestions?

OK in RRAS, Ports, i clicked properties, found the WAN adaptor in the list > properties > demand-dial routing connections (inbound + outbound), clicked OK,

    then...

The number of available ports must be between -1 and -1.

what???????? at the bottom of the properties window it says.

you can set a maximum port limit for a device that supports multiple ports,

then u can select a port, but its faded out and i cannot click it,

    ne help?

I don't see anything so far that rings a bell. Have you checked the event logs for more detail?

    Any helpful information Here?

Can you get RAS working so that an external PC can dial in?

i havnt actually tried, as i havnt needed to and i would then have 2 b on a different line to dial in?

i really only want the routing to work and share the net, not really fussed about the dialin, as its not a work server or anything, would b nice 2 know i have it tho if im at a friends.

IF you are on a Dial-UP ISP then I do not know what to do.

But if you are on DSL or Cable

DUMP RRAS, ICS and and/or any other Internet sharing software and get a HARDWARE ROUTER.

Then no PC will be dependent on just one PC for connection.

im on ADSL, i intend to keep the server on, so theres not much point in spending out on a router really, even if i could do it that way it wont b teaching my windows server which i want to try understand abit better.

newt, im reading though it slowly

i just tried dialing in but i says, username/password r wrong or not avalible on the domain, i know there right, so its just not working, grr
